2014 British Grand Prix
The ninth round of the 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Champioship held under blue skies at the historic Silverstone circuit produced an intriguing race with plenty of incidents and overtaking. The sell-out crowd of 122,000 people cheered hard as Englishman Lewis Hamilton took a popular win.
The Mercedes driver – starting the race in sixth position after a wrethched Q3 qualifying session – was closing in on his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg before the German's gearbox problems forced his retirement.
A stunning drive from Williams' Finnish star Valtteri Bottas saw him come from 17th position at the start to take second place at flag fall. Daniel Ricciardo again drove impressively to finish in third position.
