2019 Canadian Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel led the field away from pole position and looked destined for his and Ferrari's first win of the 2019 season when on lap 48 it all went wrong. Under pressure from reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes, Vettel made a mistake under braking for Turn 3. Driving across the grass and reentering the track at the exit of Turn 4 the German skillfully kept his car under control, before holding off Hamilton and retaining the lead.

Sadly for the Scuderia - and every other right-minded F1 viewer - the stewards handed Vettel a five second time penalty for 'rejoining the track in an unsafe manner'. The race now effectively over Hamilton stayed close to the Ferrari eventually crossing the line well within five seconds to take his fifth and Mercedes seventh victory from all seven 2019 grands prix so far.
