Starting from pole position Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc led Mercedes racer George Russell during the early stages of the race. Driving his Red Bull Racing RB18 car, Max Verstappen claimed the lead when Leclerc stopped for new tyres, going on to control the race, eventually crossing the line during a Safety Car period to claim his fifth successive grand prix victory.
